The American Board of Urology does not provide verification of Board status over the phone. The ABU is also not a physician referral service; the staff has no way to know about doctors in various communities across the United States.
The ABU provides only written verification of Board status to credentialing organizations and other similar parties. To receive a written validation within approximately 30 days, please submit a check or money order for $50.00, a signed waiver from the physician in question, and the address to whom the verification should be sent to:
American Board of Urology
600 Peter Jefferson Parkway
Charlottesville, VA 22911
If you are a patient or do not require written verification, the American Board of Medical Specialties provides online listings and verbal verification of Board certification. You may call 866/ASK-ABMS (866/275-2267) to receive verbal verification. If a physician is not listed with the ABMS, he or she is not certified by the American Board of Urology.
No other websites or organizations are provided with or authorized by the American Board of Urology to supply ABU certification information to the public. While there are other organizations and websites that may claim to list board-certified physicians, many of these rely on selfreported information and do not verify the accuracy of that information. The American Board of Urology is not affiliated with any of these, and is not responsible for any information they provide.
If you have a concern or wish to file a complaint about a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, please contact your state medical board.
