The American Board of Urology does not provide verification of Board status over the phone.
The American Board of Urology is also not a physician referral service; the staff does not provide guidance or names of urologists for patient referral, nor is qualified to do so.
The ABU provides written verification for credentialing purposes only. A waiver signed by the urologist and payment of a $50 fee are necessary of all third parties to receive a letter of verification. The fee may be paid by check or credit card. Credit card transactions incur a $5 convenience fee. Requests are generally fulfilled by email within one week of receipt. Please send verification requests to:

For patients or those not requiring written verification, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) provides online listings and verbal verification of Board certification. Please visit: www.abms.org or call 866/ASK-ABMS (866/275-2267). Physicians not listed with the ABMS are not certified with the American Board of Urology. Please note that urologists who are Board eligible, but not yet certified are not listed with the ABMS. Regardless of claims to the contrary, no other websites or organizations are authorized by the American Board of Urology to supply ABU certification information to the public and the ABU is not responsible for information obtained from such sources.
Concerns or complaints about Diplomates of the American Board of Urology should be filed with the respective state medical board.
